Valley High School is the home of the only APS magnet school designed for students who are interested in engineering and computer science. This is a school within a school and is open to incoming freshmen and sophomores. All students can apply regardless of attendance zone with district approved transfer.

Made possible by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, Engineering the Future cultivates engineering habits of mind such as problem-solving, creativity, optimism, persistence and collaboration. Students explore and apply the design process in all core classes. The academic emphasis is on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). This program fosters academic skills for students pursuing STEM careers and provides opportunities to learn, intern, or shadow community partners, such as Air Force Research Labs, Sandia National Labs, UNM, and more. Students will be prepared for successful transitions to future technical career paths and employment opportunities. Immersion in STEM curriculum at VHS benefits student interested in any discipline, not just aspiring engineers.

Students who live in Valley’s attendance area will be given priority in attendance, then the remaining space is open to students throughout the city. For more information on this exciting learning opportunity for students please complete the ETF Interest form so we can contact you.
